Why this newspaper is warm — not cold.
Look at almost any news site. They're blue. They're gray. They're cold.
That's not an accident — cold colors register as "serious" and "trustworthy" to the people who design them. But cold colors also register as "exhausting." After ten seconds of doomscrolling cobalt-on-slate, you feel worse, and the news hasn't even started yet.
The Burg is warm. The fire on a back porch in November. The orange under the door at a diner at 6 a.m. The amber lamp on a desk where someone is actually working. That's the temperature of this paper.
The colors aren't decoration — they're the editorial stance. If the news has to be hard, the room around it doesn't have to be.
